One of that series' enduring characters was Peter who gave lifestyle tips from the point of view of a homeless and possibly mad person. In the book accompanying the series, Peter had a page for his "mad thoughts". These are the ideas for things that pop into your mind but which are so unutterably horrific you would never act on them.
Recently I purchased a water filter as the water in my building is undrinkable sludge. Ever since that plastic jug has taken over the shelf in my fridge door I have been struggling with the urge to piss into it to see whether or not it would make it taste like normal water.
I have no intention of doing that. It would be gross, but I am horrifically, morbidly curious. I've even googled in the hopes of finding out whether anyone has actually tried it and while there are a lot of curious people out there, nobody wants to admit to having carried out the experiment themselves.
So... has anyone out there given in to the siren's call of Brita-filtered urine? Or is this doomed to remain one of history's great unsolved mysteries?
According to the most recent Cook's Illustrated, passing very inferior vodka through a water filter several times allegedly improves its flavour (for values of improving the flavour of something that I thought was supposed not to have much of a flavour, by which I infer that at the end of the process it theoretically has less of a flavour), but CI remains disappointingly silent on the result of passing urine through a water filter.
Not that I am planning to try this either (and my eternal self-struggle involves knowing perfectly well I should not stick my finger into an electric socket, but still wanting to anyway, just to see) but it struck me that the level of filtration success might depend on the concentration of the urine in the first place ... which would require one to drink a lot of water in order to dilute the urine ... and this seems to be getting deeply recursive. Possibly you need two water filters. Also, if I ever visit your place, remind me never to accept any drink requiring the addition of filtered water.

I don't intend upon giving in to my curiosity any time soon.
Though having revealed this curiosity to the world I now intend to ask people that drop by if they would "care for a glass of... water".
